15. Multilingual

Discover how to convert your website into a bilingual or multilingual platform using Stylie. Explore the power of automatic translations, customization, and integration of a language switcher for an enhanced user experience.

Are you looking to reach a global audience? Expanding your website to become bilingual or multilingual could be the answer. With Stylie, this becomes an intuitive and seamless process.

If you're using the free version of Stylie, you can add one extra language to your website. On the other hand, the pro version allows you to convert your site into a multilingual platform supporting multiple languages.

To start, go to the CMS dashboard and navigate to Project Settings. You will see the Translate option on the toolbar. Here you specify your original website language. For example, if your original website language is English, leave the selection on English. If it's a different language, say Estonian or Hungarian, you select the appropriate option.

To add a new language, you click on the Translate option and select your preferred translation language. For instance, Swedish. You can make this translation public if you want your visitors to see it or keep it private while you are still working on the backend translations.

One powerful feature available to Pro users is Auto Translate. With this feature, Stylie translates your page into the chosen language, and you can make tweaks afterwards. The Auto Switch feature allows your website to automatically load in the visitor's default browser language. For example, if a visitor's browser default language is Swedish, your website will load the Swedish version.

After adding the translation, your page will appear in the original language, which in this case is English. To allow users to switch between the English and Swedish versions, you need to add a Language Element. You can find the Translation option in the Add Element drawer on the left. You simply drag and drop this into your page's container.

Once you preview the page on the front end, you will notice a language switcher at the top. When you select Swedish, your page will automatically translate to Swedish. Auto Translate, while powerful, may not always be 100% accurate. In such cases, you can manually adjust the translations. Simply navigate to the Content Management System, select Pages, and make the necessary changes.

The Language Selector can be made global, allowing it to appear on all pages. If you prefer to have it separate from your header, you can adjust its position through Settings, Styling, and Position. A fixed position with vertical offset set to bottom allows the Selector to stay visible at the bottom of the page as you scroll, providing an easily accessible language toggle for your visitors.

If you have a multilingual site and wish to add more languages, just return to the CMS Project Settings and Translate to add your third, fourth, fifth language, and so forth. With Stylie, you can bridge language barriers and bring your website to a worldwide audience.
