When you're designing a website, consistency is key. Consistency in design, content, and formatting creates a cohesive user experience. It's also a huge time-saver, especially when you want to make changes to a feature that appears on multiple pages of your site. Enter Global Blocks—a powerful tool that saves you time and ensures consistency across your website.
What is a Global Block?
A global block is a feature you design and format to be used across multiple pages on your site. Whether it's a "Contact Us" section, headers, footers, or a promotional banner, once you set a block as global, changes made to it will be reflected everywhere it's used.
Setting a Global Block
You can set a block as global within our builder. Simply go to the block settings, select "Make it Global," and your block transforms into a global one. You'll notice a small blue icon with an Earth symbol, which indicates that this block is global.
Global blocks can be managed from the Block Manager. Under "Global Blocks," you'll see all your global blocks, including newly created ones.
Display Conditions and Customizations
Global blocks have customizable display conditions. This feature, accessible through the block settings, allows you to determine on which pages the global block should appear. The default setting places the block only on the home page, but you can change this according to your needs. Add specific pages or set the block to appear on all pages, excluding specific ones.
The flexibility of global blocks lets you create variations of headers or footers for different sections of your page. This is especially useful if you have a complex site with different requirements per section.
Delinking a Global Block
There may come a time when you want to make changes to a block on a specific page without affecting the others. For this, you need to delink the block. Remember, once you delink a block, it no longer syncs with the original one. To delink, go to the block settings and untoggle "Make it Global."
Global Blocks Vs. Saved Blocks
Global blocks are often confused with saved blocks, but they serve different purposes. A saved block is a template you might want to use in the future, but with different content. Global blocks, on the other hand, are designed for synchronization. If you want changes made to a block to be reflected on all pages where it's used—like for testimonials, coupons, or discounts—then global blocks are your go-to tool.
In conclusion, global blocks are a powerful feature for any website owner. They make site-wide changes easy and efficient, and offer the customization required to meet specific page needs. Experience the convenience and power of global blocks and enhance your website's efficiency and consistency.
